Why choose a registered dietitian?
A registered dietitian (RD) has completed required education and training established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Dietetics. In addition to obtaining a bachelor’s degree, a RD must complete a specially designed, accredited nutrition program and complete extensive supervised practice rotation programs in a health care facility, foodservice organization, community agency and pass a rigorous national registration examination. A registered dietitian can recommend a personally tailored diet based off your health history, eating and exercise habits allowing the assessment and monitoring of goals. RDs also help manage nutritional therapy via chronic health conditions such as high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, food allergies, sensitivities and intolerances. Lastly, RDs can help you navigate through fad diets and provide guidance and motivation to assist you with mindful eating.
